About Jonathan Collins
Having joined SDA in 2005, Jonathan’s role as the head of our Design and Project Management team involves working with a team of experienced architectural technologists, surveyors and architects on projects throughout the country. As well as working with SDA’s specialist Property Search team, Jonathan has extensive experience in the design of homes to meet the needs of clients with a wide range of disabilities and is involved in projects ranging from wet room adaptations in rental properties through to large scale new-build properties.
Jonathan’s experience in designing properties and implementing successful projects provides him with the knowledge to create accessible home environments, designed to enable his clients to live as independently as possible and maximise their rehabilitation, whilst protecting their interests throughout the process. Jonathan is able to provide tailored and pragmatic advice to clients to ensure successful delivery of projects.
He guides his clients through the entire process from inception to completion. Jonathan understands the importance of gaining value for money and he provides guidance to builders and clients on zero-rated works to limit VAT liability for disability related works. Jonathan has also been involved with the design and implementation of many hydrotherapy pools for his clients. Jonathan regularly provides CPD training, webinars and conference / seminar talks on adaptive design and project management, for litigators, deputies, case managers, rehabilitation specialists and charities and welcomes requests to speak at events and provide training.
Jonathan is part of the senior management team at Stephen Docker Associates, helping to lead the vision, values and strategic ambitions of the business and ensure that every member of the team is supported and inspired by the work that we do, ensuring everything we do is Designed to Enable.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of your work?
I often work with clients for months, or even years, so seeing how a successfully completed project can make such a huge difference and impact to their lives.
What do you enjoy away from the office?
I am an avid runner and enjoy skiing and clay pigeon shooting. I occasionally play golf – badly!
