Kieran Lawlor
Architectural Assistant
Kieran joined SDA after completing his Master’s in Architecture at the University of Portsmouth. Before that, he worked for a multidisciplinary practice in Kent, where he gained invaluable experience across a range of sectors, with a particular focus on delivering complex small to medium-scale local developments and working closely with clients throughout the design process.
About Kieran Lawlor
Alongside his Master’s, Kieran worked as a research assistant, contributing to ongoing research into temporary settlements in collaboration with the UN and a UK research institute. He also worked as an expert witness assistant on a high-profile construction litigation case, which was recently successfully concluded in court.
Kieran relocated to Cheshire to join SDA, where he looks forward to contributing to the team, with a rare opportunity to combine the progression of his architectural career with his experience in expert witness cases and research.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of your work?
I enjoy collaborating with the expertise of the entire project team, including designers, consultants, contractors, and clients, to solve complex challenges. Seeing different perspectives come together to create an outcome that is greater than the sum of its parts is incredibly rewarding. It’s especially satisfying to turn a client’s concerns into a thoughtful, tailored solution that has a positive impact on their everyday life.
What do you enjoy doing away from the office?
Outside of work, I spend as much time as possible outdoors, whether exploring the countryside or visiting new cities and touring architectural and design sights. I previously competed as a road and track cyclist and, while my racing days are mostly behind me, I still train most days. Alongside this, I have a keen interest in art and design and enjoy visiting exhibitions, galleries, and museums, where I often see how other creative disciplines can influence and benefit the built environment.
