About Jess Taylor-Jemmett

Jess joined SDA in Dec 2024 and has a passion for designing buildings and places that uplift the human spirit through the creation of sustainable, resilient, and socially conscious architecture. Jess has 6+ years of experience post part II spanning residential, commercial, healthcare, and industrial sectors; however, she has a keen interest in bespoke residential and humanitarian/social architecture.

Jess spent her childhood in the Netherlands and York and returned to her beloved hometown of Manchester to complete her studies at both Manchester University and Sheffield Hallam University, where she has a BA (Hons) degree in Architecture as well as a master’s degree (MArch) in Architecture. She was awarded the Ibstock award for her final year project, Re:empowerment, a township development project based in Missionvale, South Africa.

Jess is a RIBA member and is currently undertaking her Part 3 studies to achieve status as a fully qualified architect. She is a part of the design & project management team here at SDA, where we oversee projects from concept to completion. Always one to love a challenge, Jess enjoys guiding projects through stringent planning processes and helping our clients realise their vision.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your work?

The most rewarding part of the work is creating architecture that has a profound impact on both our client’s and their family’s quality of life, celebrating their diverse needs and seeking to foster a sense of belonging and empowerment for all.

What do you enjoy doing away from the office?

Outside of work, I love being active as well as spending time with my young family. I was an accomplished athlete competing for GB/England at championships such as the Commonwealth Games, and I now enjoy giving back to the sport and coaching the next generation of athletes for Sale Harriers and England Athletics. I’m a Sale Sharks and Manchester Utd fan, very much partial to a competitive game, and I love travelling, where I hope to continue ticking off my bucket list with my husband/tiny human in tow!
